WhatsApp has introduced its long-awaited new Future feature, the long-awaited "Disappeared Messages" feature, with a seven-day time limit for the message to be automatically deleted. This feature is available for individual and group chats. However, in group chats, group admins can enable messages that disappear in group chats. The company has announced that the feature of disappearing messages is now official and will be available to its 2 billion plus users this month.

The company, which owns Facebook, said the goal is to bring the conversation on WhatsApp closer to the individual, which means they don't have to stick around forever ."That's why we're excited to introduce the option to use hidden messages on WhatsApp . When the 'Disappearing Messages' feature is on, new messages sent to a chat will disappear from that chat after 7 days, which will make the conversation lighter and more private, the company said in a statement.

"We start in seven days, because conversations are not permanent and we'll have peace of mind so that you do not forget to chat. The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there when you need it, and will disappear after you do not need it," the company explained.WhatsApp's new The Disappearing Messages feature will be available on all WhatsApp supported devices by the end of this month, including Android, iOS and Linux based KaiOS devices, WhatsApp Web and desktop platforms.

How the new Disappearing Features works:

🔘 As mentioned earlier, if the Missing Messages feature is enabled, new messages sent in individual or group chat will automatically disappear after seven days.

🔘 The most recent selection controls all messages in the chat. "This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat," WhatsApp said in its support page.

🔘 Disappearing messages will also delete photos and videos after seven days, and it is still possible for both parties to take screenshots or copy the messages before they are automatically deleted when the messages disappear.

🔘 Alternatively, you can save photos or other content in the chat using auto-download. You can turn auto-download off in WhatsApp Settings> Data and Storage usage.

🔘 If a user does not open WhatsApp within seven days, the message will disappear. However, previews of the message will be displayed in notifications until WhatsApp opens.

🔘 When you reply to a message, the initial message will be quoted. If you reply to a missing message, the quoted text may continue to chat for up to seven days.

🔘 If a disappearing message is forwarded to a chat with disappearing messages off, the message won’t disappear in the forwarded chat.

🔘 If a user creates a backup before a message disappears, the disappearing message will be included in the backup. Messages that disappear when a user restores from a backup, then the disappearing message will be deleted

🔘 One important thing to note here is that once the missing message feature is turned on, there is no option to customize the time limit for deleting messages.
